International fax
Seven countries within reach of any internet connection, at one price for every destination.
To fax abroad with FaxTelecom, pick the recipient’s country, enter their landline number in the national format and attach a PDF; the international code is added for you. Seven destinations are covered — Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain — and the price depends neither on the country nor on where you are sending from: the first page is free, then €3.99 incl. VAT once you reach two.
The seven destinations and how to write their numbers
The form expects the number as it is written in the recipient’s country. This table lists, for each destination, the code we add automatically, the accepted format and a valid example.
| Country | Code | Expected number | Example | Country guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| France | +33 | 10 digits; prefix 01–05 or 09 (06 and 07 are mobiles) | 0148817645 | Faxing to France |
| Portugal | +351 | 9 digits starting with 2 (area code included); 9x numbers are mobiles | 213456789 | Faxing to Portugal |
| Canada | +1 | 10 digits: 3-digit area code, then the 7-digit number, without the leading 1 | 5145551234 | Faxing to Canada |
| Germany | +49 | 0, then 6 to 11 digits (2- to 5-digit area code + subscriber); 015, 016 and 017 are mobiles | 03012345678 | Faxing to Germany |
| Spain | +34 | 9 digits starting with 8 or 9 (province code included); 6 and 7 are mobiles | 911234567 | Faxing to Spain |
| Italy | +39 | Leading 0 kept, then 5 to 10 digits; numbers starting with 3 are mobiles | 0612345678 | Faxing to Italy |
| Belgium | +32 | 9 digits starting with 0 (spaces allowed); 04xx mobiles have 10 digits | 024751234 | Faxing to Belgium |
An international fax in four steps
Upload the file
A single PDF, 100 MB or less. One page: free. Longer documents: a flat €3.99 incl. VAT, however many pages.
Choose the destination
Select the country, then type the fax number in national format, the way you would dial it locally.
Validate by email
Click the link we send you, then let the countdown of about 55 seconds run. You can still cancel at this point.
Watch it go
The status updates live. To keep a record, add the PDF receipts (€2.99 incl. VAT, billed solely on successful delivery).
One price, whatever the destination
Faxing Montréal costs no more than faxing Madrid. A single-page document is free, as often as you like. From the second page, the fax costs €3.99 in total — 2 pages or 40 — paid by card before you confirm. The PDF can be up to 100 MB.
When a file goes abroad, keeping proof often pays off. The receipts option adds €2.99: you get the request acknowledgement and then the transmission acknowledgement as PDFs, and the amount is only charged if the fax was actually delivered.
If your recipient is somewhere else
Outside the seven countries listed, FaxTelecom cannot route faxes for now. Where you are, on the other hand, makes no difference: an expat in Dubai or a traveller in Japan can fax Lisbon or Brussels from their phone, as long as they are online.
Either way, the number must be a landline with a fax machine or fax service behind it — faxes never reach mobile phones. If you are unsure about a code, check the directory; the dialling guide walks through the pitfalls country by country.
International fax: your questions
- Which countries can FaxTelecom send faxes to?
- Seven countries are served: Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Only landline fax numbers in those countries are accepted; you pick the country in the form, then type the number in its local format.
- What format does a foreign fax number take?
- Pick the recipient’s country, then type the number in its local form, leaving out the + or 00 prefix and the country code: FaxTelecom dials the international prefix itself. Seven countries are served: Canada, plus Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain.
- How quickly does my fax go out?
- Once the request is confirmed and the short countdown has run, the fax is normally delivered within one to two minutes. When many faxes are queued at the same moment, allow a few extra minutes; the tracking page keeps you posted at every step.
- My fax failed: what went wrong?
- Most often, the number: either it is wrong, or it rings a telephone rather than a fax machine. Next come a busy or unanswered line, a receiving machine that is powered down, has a paper jam or an empty tray, and lines running through an internet box that distorts the signal. Check the number, then try again a little later.
